About Fixed Gears

Fixed Gears is a NEW independent mobile bicycle mechanic service in the South Pennines area offering a friendly, personal and flexible service tailored to your cycling needs.

 

I can visit you at home or at work. My aim is to fix the problem there and then to get you cycling again as quickly as possible. For larger jobs, or if it is just more convenient for you, I have a fully-equipped home workshop and I will collect your bicycle and return it to you as soon as it is fixed.

About me

I have been a passionate cyclist for as long as I can remember, and as an engineer, I am also interested in how things work. These interests mean that I have been building and maintaining my own bicyles and friends' bicycles for many years, and I've decided to turn this hobby into a business. 

I have recently passed my City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Cycle Mechanics, as well as The Bike Inn's Certificate of Attainment covering more advanced wheel building techniques, frame preparation and hydraulics.

 Tools, materials and parts

I always use workshop standard tools and materials for servicing and repairs. After all, I use these on my own bicycles too so I want to use the best. I also have stock of common parts and components. So try me if you need something quickly. I am also happy to fit your parts if you've ordered them online.

Customers

Whatever type of cycling you do, my goal is to help you to get the most out of your riding time. So If you’re a commuter cyclist needing last minute repairs before the journey to work, a recreational cyclist in need of a bicycle service after a winter ride or an experienced cyclist looking for a bicycle tune-up before a big event, I can look after your bicycles for you.

Location

I live in Holmfirth near Huddersfield, at the foot of the Holme Moss road climb. From this central location, I cover the South Pennines area including the Holme Valley, Kirklees, the Calder Valley, Saddleworth, Wakefield, Barnsley and Sheffield.

I will travel to you with my mobile workshop to service your bicycles and fix any problems. I will also collect and drop-off bicycles if a job demands. I do not charge a call-out fee or delivery. In fact, I'll do a free inspection and provide a no-obligation quotation for any work.
